Ukirk Journeying with young adults as we follow Christ

The Red Mission House - A Place to Belong - is a new outreach ministry of First United Presbyterian Church of DuBois, PA.  Beginning November 2014, the Red Mission House engages in two unique ministries to support the city of DuBois.  RMH was created to provide a safe place for teenagers and young adults to gather for the purpose of engaging in healthy activities and experiencing meaningful conversation with peers and adults in an atmosphere of Christian love and service.  A drop-in center will be available Monday - Friday from 10 am -7pm for young adults to come and receive tutoring, computer classes, GED classes, job skill training, Christian-themed discussions, and participate in community service projects.

The second component of ministry in the RMH is to host visiting mission groups from around the United States.  Our house can host up to 16 people, with the possibility to expand to 20 people.  Mission teams are offered the choice to do home repair work around the city for those in need or to assist in the drop-in center by providing meals, classes, and conversation with the young adults.  Both projects can be completed by dividing up a group, too.

Cost for a one week stay is $150 per person and includes lodging, food, and shower facilities.  Mission teams need to provide their own transportation and will be asked to make a donation towards remodeling costs for home projects they are assigned.  We seek to house groups from May to September, but will consider other months on a case-by-case basis.

The City of DuBois, PA is located in the northwestern part of Pennsylvania and is surrounded by beautiful state parks, mountains, and wonderful scenery.  Recreational activities might include:  kayak/canoeing, tubing on the river, hiking, outdoor community pool, bowling, and so on.
