Dear colleagues in campus ministry:
As another academic year nears a close, we would like to share an exciting announcement and some background with you!
The UKirk National Board- a group of dedicated volunteers and campus ministry advocates--has been hard at work behind the scenes over the past several months. A process that has been years in the making has led to the dawn of a new chapter in UKirk's ministry to the connectional church. Last month, UKirk became its own incorporated non-profit entity!
In January, Jason Santos announced that he could no longer fulfill the role of Ukirk national director because his role within PMA shifted again. He now serves as Mission Coordinator for Christian Formation at the Presbyterian Mission Agency. UKirk is one of five covenant partner entities that make up what is now being referred to as the Christian Formation Collective. (Association of Presbyterian Church Educators, Presbyterian Youth Workers Association, Presbyterian Camps and Conference Center Association, and Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network are the other four, all with their own leadership, apart from but in partnership with Presbyterian Mission Agency.) In preparing for this shift, Jason was an instrumental advocate in helping ensure that the Ukirk National Board had the support and funding that we needed to succeed in launching as our own entity. PMA is providing significant start-up grant funds to the Ukirk National Board and will continue to remain an integral partner and voice in the ministry we do with campus ministries and for college students.
What this means moving forward is the Ukirk National board will have more autonomy and direct oversight of budget, resources, and programmatic possibilities that can best serve campus ministers in the UKirk network. This is an exciting breakthrough, and we are grateful for all the previous board members who have served over the first seven years of UKirk, and to Jason Santos for his time as national director for getting us to this point.
Most immediately, the Ukirk National Board is now opening a search for a part time national executive director! The job description is attached below.
